What do our standard policies cover?
Our standard policies will cover you if you or your travel partner are diagnosed with COVID-19 before your trip starts rendering you unable to travel within 14 days of your pre-booked departure. Additionally, if you contract COVID-19 whilst on your trip our standard policies will cover emergency medical expenses arising from your illness.
Our standard policies also cover for curtailment due to death of a relative contracting COVID-19 or requiring hospitalisation for treatment with mechanical ventilation. So, if you need to cut your trip short, we will support your claim.

What does the Enhanced COVID-19 add on cover?
FCDO advice
The key benefit is the add on will cover you if you choose to travel against FCDO (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office) advice in relation to COVID-19, as long as the advice is against “all but essential travel” solely as a result of COVID-19. This only applies when travelling to countries in Europe.
Cancellation
We provide to each Insured Person in total per Insured Journey, up to the sum insured shown in the Table of Benefits, following necessary and unavoidable cancellation of a trip as a result of:
- You are contacted by a representative of the UK Government’s Test and Trace service due to the probability of You having contracted COVID-19, and are instructed to self-isolate for a period of time which prevents You from starting Your Insured Journey using Your pre-booked outward travel.
- You experience an adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine in the 2 weeks before Your scheduled departure date and are advised that You are no longer fit to travel by a Medical Practitioner.
- You, or Your travelling companion are unable to complete Your COVID-19 vaccination course before Your scheduled departure date due to unforeseen illness of You or Your travelling companion.

How do I purchase?
At the bottom of this page click ‘Start Quote’ (linked). Once you have completed your details on the first page, selected the level of cover you need on the second page, you will be given the option to purchase add ons to your policy. Simply scroll down and select Covid-Enhanced. The additional premium and advanced policy cover will be added automatically.
FAQs
Am I covered if I do not have the COVID-19 vaccination?
If you or any other traveller on this policy contract COVID-19 and have chosen not to have the recommended vaccination(s) you will not be covered for any COVID-19 related claims under this policy. Discretion may be applied if you are medically exempt to have the recommended vaccination(s) and this is shown on your medical records.
Where does this add on cover?
The cover for travelling to destinations where the FCDO advise “against all but essential” travel under the Enhanced COVID-19 cover add on only applies to European destinations. You will not be given the option to purchase the add on if you select a country, during the quote process, outside of Europe. If you purchase an annual multi-trip policy the add on will only support claims when travelling to the following countries provided there is no FCDO advice against “all travel:
Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, the Azores, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Channel Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, the Faroe Islands, Finland (including Lapland), France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece (including the Greek Islands), Hungary, Iceland, Ireland (Republic), the Isle of Man, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, the Russian Federation, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands), Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the Vatican City.
Keep in mind the Enhanced COVID-19 Cover add on only applies to European
destinations.
Am I insured if I contract COVID-19 prior to commencing my trip?
Yes. If you fall ill or have adverse effects from your vaccination up to 14 days prior to your planned departure date and have been advised by a medical professional that you should not travel you will be covered for cancelation. Please review our policy wording document for full contractual terms regarding cancellation.
The FCDO has advised not to travel to my chosen destination, am I covered?
When you purchase the Enhanced COVID-19 cover add on you will be covered against FCDO advice if it pertains to “all but essential travel” as a result of COVID-19 if travelling to a European destination. However, if the advice is regarding to anything other than non-essential travel due to COVID-19 you will not be covered. If the FCDO advises against all travel or non-essential travel to a particular country, island(s) or region, and you decide to travel anyway, this policy will not cover you for any issue that may arise, and any subsequent claim will be rejected.
Am I covered if I must isolate prior to my departure date?
If you, a relative, a member of your travel party or someone you have planned to stay with contracts COVID-19, with a positive diagnosis, up to 14 days prior to your planned departure date each insured person will be covered for cancellation costs up to the sum shown in the table of benefits. This is included as part of our standard policy cover.
If you have been contacted through the Test and Trace App, under our standard policies you will not be covered. However, if you purchase our Enhanced COVID-19 cover add on and are required to self-isolate for a period of time that prevents you from travelling as planned to a European destination you will be able to make a claim for cancellation.
